Tips for Tonic Tutor

Tonic Tutor is a web application that helps students with ear training, note reading, and music theory.

If this is your first time accessing Tonic Tutor, here is what you need to know to play:

1) To access the games, go to http://www.tonictutor.com and click login in the top right hand corner. Or click here to login.

2) Enter the temporary login and password that I gave you during our weekly lesson.

3) You will then be prompted to create a user name and password that will replace the temporary login and password I gave you . You will then use your new user name and password whenever you login to Tonic Tutor. Make sure you remember (and write it down!) your new user name and password.

4) Explore the games in Freeplay, there are ten to choose from. Try level 1 to start with, but if you want to challenge yourself, select a more difficult level.

6) Try as many of the games as you like, they are all pretty short. If you don’t know how to play a game, look for the instructions box in the bottom right corner.

For my brand new beginner students (those in the Primer level or My First Piano Adventures), some of the games include some concepts that you haven’t been taught yet (so don’t feel bad if you don’t know the answer!) Here are the games that are best suited to the Beginner level (select level 1 when you play):

Finger Puppets

Piano Keys

Jungle Journey

Player Piano

Dancing Jelly Beans

Rhythm Zoo

Stick People

Mystery Note
